Business groups: Keep IoT security standards flexible, ensure global applicability

International business groups are urging the federal government to keep any Internet of Things cybersecurity and privacy standards flexible, while also making sure that any standards developed are consistent with international approaches.

The Trans-Atlantic Business Council, in response to a request for comment on IoT policy by the National Telecommunications and Information Administration, said IoT policy should not establish a specific approach to security, but rather should promote global standards and best practices.
