Biden executive order’s upcoming milestones include updates to federal contracting rules, software supply chain work

Agencies are ramping up efforts to meet deadlines in President Biden’s May cyber executive order, with deliverables expected in the coming months on changing federal acquisition rules to require contractor cyber incident reporting, and refining software supply chain efforts to secure government systems.

Already, the Office of Management and Budget has established new requirements for agencies focused on protecting critical software and establishing a maturity model for logging events and retaining data on federal systems.
