Biden administration kicks off international anti-ransomware initiative with over 30 countries joining effort

The National Security Council today launches a two-day virtual meeting of 30-plus countries that have agreed to participate in the Biden administration’s “Counter-Ransomware Initiative,” with a focus on disrupting the use of cryptocurrencies to make ransomware payments, taking action against perpetrators of attacks and bolstering the resiliency of industry and other networks.

Participants come from across the globe, including countries from the NATO alliance, the European Union, Australia, France, Israel, Japan, India, Brazil, South Korea and South Africa, according to...
