Amid stakeholder concerns, House lawmakers seek feedback on IoT security proposal

House lawmakers are hoping to gather more feedback on a legislative proposal to establish minimum standards for government acquisitions of Internet of Things technology, amid disagreement among industry and other stakeholders about the effectiveness of baseline requirements to incentivize better IoT cybersecurity.

House Oversight IT subcommittee leaders are working on draft legislation to serve as a companion to the Senate’s bipartisan IoT Cybersecurity Improvement Act, which would establish a baseline for security for IoT devices purchased by the federal government....
