State Dept. official: Cyber will increasingly become foreign policy issue

The State Department's top cyber official says significant progress has been made on engaging internationally on cybersecurity, citing bilateral agreements and other programs as the Trump administration prepares to take over cyber diplomacy efforts.

Christopher Painter, the department's coordinator for cyber issues, says in a blog post published Tuesday the U.S. and its allies have been effective at improving cyber defensive measures and cybersecurity awareness through diplomatic efforts.
