Sens. Cornyn, Heinrich reintroduce legislation to secure natural gas pipelines against cyber attacks

Sens. John Cornyn (R-TX) and Martin Heinrich (D-NM) introduced legislation Thursday to require the Secretary of Energy to carry out a program to secure natural gas and liquified natural gas pipelines against cyber attacks.

The Pipeline and LNG Facility Cybersecurity Preparedness Act would require the Secretary of Energy “to coordinate response and recovery by Federal agencies, States, and the energy sector, to physical incidents and cyber incidents impacting the energy sector,” along with developing voluntary advanced cyber “applications and...
