Senate Rules Committee OKs nominees for a federal election commission with cyber on its plate

The Senate Rules Committee by voice vote Wednesday approved the nominations of Donald Palmer and Benjamin Hovland to serve on the Election Assistance Commission, with timing on a Senate vote unclear.

If approved by the Senate, Palmer, the former secretary of the Virginia State Board of Elections, and Hovland, the current acting chief counsel for the Senate Rules Committee, will fill the two vacant positions at the EAC and increase the number of members to four. The vacancies have prevented...
