Senate ends debate on Chinese ambassador nominee

The Senate today voted 86-12 to end debate on the nomination of Iowa's GOP Governor Terry Branstad to serve as U.S. ambassador to China, where he will address long-running cyber issues between the two countries such as theft of intellectual property.

Following the cloture motion, the Senate has set a confirmation vote for Branstad on May 22.
