Senate Commerce plans February hearing on developing a federal data privacy law

The Senate Commerce Committee will hold a hearing to examine consumer data privacy issues later this month, with a focus on the “policy principles” involved in crafting a “federal data privacy framework."

The hearing will take place Feb. 27, with members to look into steps Congress should take to “address risks to consumers” and “implement data privacy protections for all Americans.” Witnesses have not yet been announced.
