SEC to discuss ‘interpretive release’ to assist companies during cybersecurity incidents

/ February 16, 2018

The Securities and Exchange Commission will discuss whether to issue an “interpretive release” regarding ways companies can respond to cybersecurity incidents at a Feb. 21 open meeting.

In a Federal Register notice on the meeting agenda, the SEC said the possible release was intended to “provide guidance to assist public companies in preparing disclosures about cybersecurity risks and incidents."

The SEC will broadcast the meeting on its website.
