NIST seeks partnerships on multifactor authentication in retail sector

The National Institute of Standards and Technology has announced a new opportunity for industry collaboration on multifactor authentication technology, in an effort to increase the security of online identities and reduce risk of online fraud.

The new initiative, managed by NIST's National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence, will focus on developing guidance for implementing multifactor authentication mechanisms and online identity management protocols within the retail sector, according to a Dec. 19 Federal Register notice.
