Legislation addressing energy-sector cyber vulnerabilities offered in House, Senate

Lawmakers introduced companion bills Thursday in the House and Senate to protect critical energy infrastructure, calling for a “pilot program” to identify cyber vulnerabilities and a national strategy to defend the energy grid.

The Securing Energy Infrastructure Act would establish a two-year program within the National Laboratories to identify cyber vulnerabilities in the energy sector, and to test technologies that could defend the grid against cyber attacks.
