Justice Department announces indictment of Ohio hacker

An Ohio man has been indicted for using malware to access thousands of protected computers of individuals, companies, and the federal government -- including IT systems owned by a subsidiary of the Department of Energy, the Justice Department announced.

DOJ said Thursday that Phillip Durachinsky was indicted on 16 counts for creating and installing malware on thousands of computers between 2008 and Jan. 20, 2017. That malware was used against individuals, companies, schools, a police department, and the government....
