FTC touts cyber guidelines as 'complying' with NIST framework

Federal Trade Commission officials are telling industry leaders that following the commission's cybersecurity guidelines aligns with the National Institute of Standards and Technology's framework of standards.

“Businesses often ask: ‘If I comply with the NIST Cybersecurity Framework, am I complying with what the FTC requires?’” said Lisa Weintraub Schifferle, an attorney with the FTC's Consumer Protection Bureau, in a blog post Monday.
