DOJ announces guilty pleas in major DDoS attacks

The Justice Department has announced guilty pleas in three cybercrime cases involving distributed denial of service attacks, which DOJ attorneys say should help deter future attacks involving botnets.

In the U.S. District of Alaska, defendants pleaded guilty to creating and operating two botnets that targeted Internet of Things devices and led to the high-profile Dyn attack last year, which knocked out internet access for substantial portions of the country.
