Consumer protection bureau cites 'growing' cyber threats in strategic plan

The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau cites responding to increased cyber threats among its policy priorities in a new five-year strategic plan, even while the agency prepares to pull back on some activities in order to focus on its core statutory requirements.

“Cyberattacks are a growing threat to consumers and financial institutions. As a result, many financial institutions have increased their efforts to safeguard consumers’ financial data,” says the CFPB in its strategic plan issued Monday.
