DDOS attack on internet provider did not trigger U.S. cyber response

The internet service provider Dyn did not request government assistance during last week's distributed denial of service attack that brought down many social media websites, and the event did not trigger elements of the national cyber-incident response plan, according to industry sources.

The Friday DDOS attack temporarily disrupted service on Twitter, Netflix, Spotify and other sites served by Dyn, and involved malware launched from millions of Internet of Things devices, according to published reports.
