State groups ask presidential cyber panel to focus on regulatory streamlining, pre-emption

State officials are urging the federal government to address inconsistent cybersecurity regulations and consider ongoing state initiatives before taking legislative or administrative action on cyber issues, in written comments to the president's cybersecurity commission.

The National Association of State Chief Information Officers wrote in comments to the presidential Commission on Enhancing National Cybersecurity that the panel is well poised to address inconsistent – and often costly -- approaches to cybersecurity across the federal government.
