Industry in 'security by design' report presses FCC on voluntary cyber approaches

Industry advisors to the Federal Communications Commission are urging a recommitment to a voluntary process for cybersecurity – which the commission endorsed last year – as part of a new report on recommendations for security through design.

The new report, and the call for industry-commission collaboration, come as industry sources are raising concerns that the FCC appears to have backed away from that pledge for a public-private partnership on cybersecurity amid a series of regulatory initiatives by the commission.
