Past political struggles over info-sharing shaped process for upcoming standards

Federal policymaking on sharing cyber-threat intelligence across industry sectors, and with the government, is the result of a strained political process. And those strains are being played out in the development of info-sharing standards to be issued next month.

After years of failed legislative efforts, the White House took charge with an info-sharing executive order issued early last year, buttressed by the eventual passage of a cybersecurity law late last year that offers industry liability waivers for sharing cyber-threat indicators....
