Auto regulator: Proposal on cybersecurity management system coming in early '16

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is planning to issue a proposal on vehicle cybersecurity and privacy management for public comment in early 2016, a NHTSA official told lawmakers on Wednesday.

Nat Beuse, associate administrator for vehicle safety research at NHTSA, testified before a joint session of two House Oversight Committee panels that the agency is hoping to accelerate the proposal to create a cybersecurity management system for connected vehicles, amid growing concern over automobile hacks.
