White House releases report on cybersecurity ‘sprint’

Federal agencies made significant progress on securing networks and IT systems through personal identity verification cards and other strong authentication measures during the Obama administration’s 30-day cybersecurity sprint, according to a White House report released Friday.

In the report, the White House revealed that federal civilian agencies increased their use of strong authentication from 42 to 72 percent. Further, during the sprint, agencies worked to patch critical vulnerabilities and tighten access of privileged users to federal IT systems.
