Senate intelligence chair Burr says he'll retire after one more term

Senate Intelligence Chairman Richard Burr (R-NC) today announced that his next six-year term will be his last if he survives a tough re-election challenge in November.

Burr made the remarks at a breakfast meeting with the North Carolina delegation to the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, according to published reports.

Burr is the first Republican chairman of the intelligence panel since Sen. Pat Roberts of Kansas relinquished the gavel after the 2006 elections.
