Maritime sector needs cyber regulations, port security official says

The security director at one of the nation’s busiest ports told lawmakers Thursday that regulation is needed to push the maritime industry to implement measures to deter cyber threats.

Randy Parsons, director of security services at the Port of Long Beach, CA, told the House Homeland Security border and maritime security subcommittee that either voluntary or mandatory measures should be put in place to encourage the maritime sector to implement robust cyber measures.
