Intelligence chief sees decline in cyber activity following China deal

There has been a decline in cyber activity from China following a bilateral deal on cybersecurity last year, Director of National Intelligence James Clapper told senators during an open Intelligence Committee hearing.

However, it remains unclear if the decline is a direct result of the deal, Clapper said at the Tuesday session. Senators probed Clapper and the federal government's most senior intelligence leaders on a variety of cyber issues during the hearing, including deterrence, encryption, and international cyber norms.
