Homeland security panels coordinate on DHS cyber legislation

The House and Senate homeland security committees are coordinating closely on legislation to improve the government's cyber defenses – and preparing multiple avenues for advancing the bills through an uncertain legislative environment.

The committees have developed bills addressing the Department of Homeland Security's role in plugging cyber holes across government. Sources on the panels say the measures can either advance as part of separate cybersecurity information-sharing legislation or move on their own in the fall.
