GSA, Pentagon issue new cybersecurity requirements for government contractors

The Department of Defense and General Services Administration are formally releasing the text of a final rule on cybersecurity acquisition requirements for federal contractors to assure “basic safeguarding” of contractor information systems that process, store, or transmit federal contract information.

DOD and GSA announced today in a Federal Register notice that the final rule will go into effect in 30 days. The National Aeronautics and Space Administration also contributed to the rulemaking.
