Federal efforts to 'kill the password' still facing an uphill climb

Federal efforts to move past a password-based online security system are advancing in several areas, but the overall endeavor likely will produce minimal successes at best, according to a former federal prosecutor active on cybersecurity issues.

“We value convenience over security – and we're less secure today than we were 10 years ago,” said Richard Jay Johnson, an attorney at Jones Day in Dallas, TX, and a former federal prosecutor.
