Fate of Obama's voluntary cyber strategy in next administration may rest with industry

A continuation of President Obama's collaborative and largely industry-driven approach to cybersecurity by the next administration will largely rest on the shoulders of business-sector proponents.

The Obama strategy was mostly established through executive orders – in the absence of national data- and systems-security laws – which leaves open the option for a Clinton or Trump administration to reverse, modify or embrace an industry-led, non-regulatory strategy for cybersecurity.

And the uncertainty created by these wide-ranging options imposes a burden on industry...
