FAA advances plan to develop cyber standards for navigation systems

An aviation standards-setting body will be handed new cybersecurity responsibilities for navigation systems, following an upcoming discussion between the Federal Aviation Administration and the industry’s standards organization.

According to a Federal Register notice released today, FAA will meet with the Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics’ Program Management Committee on Sept. 22 to discuss the cybersecurity role for a special committee on GPS standards.
