DHS, states ask Congress for help on election cybersecurity, sidestep critical designation

Officials from the Department of Homeland Security and federal and state election organizations on Wednesday urged lawmakers to offer more assistance in securing the voting system from cyber threat, but did not go so far as to say the electoral system needed to be classified as critical infrastructure.
