Communications industry raises concerns over DHS plan to revise rules for protected data

A major coalition of the communications industry is weighing in on a Department of Homeland Security plan for updating rules on accepting and handling protected critical infrastructure information, arguing that expanded access could threaten the security of sensitive data.

“The more information is shared with entities that are not in a position to support the PCII protections, the greater the risk that the information will be compromised,” writes the U.S. Communications Sector Coordinating Council in a July 20 letter...
