Automakers highlight cyber initiatives after recall

Automakers were on Capitol Hill this week to tout their efforts to secure automobiles, underscoring the launch of a new information-sharing organization and initiatives to develop industry-wide cybersecurity and privacy measures.

An industry source told Inside Cybersecurity that officials with the Association of Global Automakers and the Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers – the industry's two major interest groups – Tuesday circulated among relevant legislators and congressional committees a letter outlining the industry's work on cybersecurity.
