Auto, IT sectors say new NHTSA cybersecurity guide offers consistent national policy

Automotive and information technology industry groups are praising new government guidance on self-driving automobiles that addresses cybersecurity and privacy issues, saying it will help eliminate a patchwork of federal and state policies that could hinder rollout of new technology.

NHTSA's new guidance urges automobile manufacturers and other entities to follow “a robust product development process based on a systems-engineering approach to minimize risks to safety, including those due to cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.”
