Auto industry officials: New ISAC can promote coordinated vulnerability disclosure

DETROIT – The automotive industry’s new information sharing and analysis center can lay the groundwork for coordinated disclosure of cyber vulnerabilities between security researchers and automakers, industry officials said today, following the release of “adaptable” cyber best practices for the industry.

Through the Auto-ISAC, automotive companies that have not set up in-house coordinated vulnerability disclosure programs can gather information about cyber vulnerabilities from those that have, according to Jeffrey Massimilla, chief product cybersecurity officer at General Motors.
