Tech, auto industries criticize California cyber rules for self-driving cars

A coalition of eight trade associations representing the tech and automotive industries is expressing deep concerns over proposed California state regulations on cybersecurity and privacy of self-driving automobiles.

In a letter to the California Department of Motor Vehicles, the tech-auto industry coalition criticizes proposed privacy and security disclosure rules surrounding autonomous vehicles, saying the state plan goes beyond personally identifiable information subject to notice and consent considered standard practice under  established privacy regulations and guidelines.
