Ponemon: Health companies have little confidence in detecting all data theft

About 50 percent of healthcare companies and business associates have little or no confidence in their ability to detect all patient data loss or theft, a new report from the Ponemon Institute on healthcare data privacy and security finds.

Nearly 90 percent of the healthcare organizations surveyed for the study experienced a data breach within the past two years, and about 45 percent have more than five data breaches in the same amount of time, according to the report....
