Pentagon budget seeks $900 million boost to counter cyber threats

The Defense Department's fiscal 2017 budget seeks $6.7 billion for cybersecurity operations – an increase of nearly $900 million above enacted levels – to address cyber threats that the department ranks on par with the Islamic State, Russia and China.

The Pentagon's increased funding request is intended to “fully” support both its defensive and offensive cyber operations. The funding seeks to build into and assure the cyber resiliency of a wide range of operations including communications, transportation and data management....
