Markey, Blumenthal pen letter to auto regulator on Fiat Chrysler hack

Sens. Edward Markey (D-MA) and Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) on Tuesday urged the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration to investigate cyber risks in automotive information and entertainment systems following the discovery of a vulnerability in Fiat Chrysler vehicles.

The Fiat Chrysler vulnerability was revealed in a Wired article last week and resulted in a recall of 1.4 million vehicles. Markey and Blumenthal stated the hack indicates a need for legislation, which they proposed last week.
