Commerce Dept. accepts 500th company to Privacy Shield framework

Roughly two months after the U.S.-EU Privacy Shield framework for transatlantic data flows came into effect, the Commerce Department on Tuesday finalized the certification of the 500th company to operate under the arrangement, which ensures that U.S. companies handle the personal data of EU citizens with a level of privacy equivalent to that afforded by the EU.
